More Introductions and Reid's First Meal

Linda, Paige's mother (aka Nona to Reid), and Linda's sister, Roberta, just left this last week after a lovely one week visit. Linda came from Oklahoma while Roberta traveled from Brownsville, Texas. They brought gorgeous weather with them. We enjoyed sunny 70 degree days for their entire visit. This was Reid's first chance to meet her great aunt Roberta, and of course, she enjoyed seeing her Nona again:) During their visit, we went to the new California Academy of Science as well as the Bay Area Discovery Museum. At the California Academy of Science, Reid thoroughly enjoyed watching the penguins and fish swimming. At the Bay Area Discovery Museum, there were water beds that looked like lily pads for the little ones to explore. Reid enjoyed laying on the lily pad while the bigger kids made it move under her. We also enjoyed many delicious Mexican meals that Tyler and Dana fixed for us. They were exploring a cookbook we seldom use, but clearly should use more often!

The highlight of the trip for me was Reid's first meal. While she is a little on the younger side for starting solids, we thought it would be fun to have family here for the big event. Needless to say, she took to eating rice cereal like a fish to water - much to everyone's surprise. She opens, we put in the rice cereal, and most of it stays in. The other joys of mealtime include eating the bib and gnawing on the spoon. With the huge mess that results, we are starting to consider bathing her more frequently than her current once/week. We all had high hopes that rice cereal would mean less waking during the night. Unfortunately, it has made no impact on her sleeping. Oh well, it was a nice thought.
