It all started when our pediatrician suggested that we could teach her to sleep on her own. That day Paige set her down and rubbed her belly as she cried herself to sleep. It only took 50 minutes of almost constant crying. My daughter has no idea who she is up against. 50 minutes - that's insane!
Anyway, we are now trying to learn the art of answering the question: "Is she starting to be sleepy?" Does one yawn count? Should we wait until there are three yawns? What if we weren't watching closely, and we miss one? If we wait until she is overly sleepy a vicious cycle occurs: she's so sleepy that she is cranky and can't fall asleep, so she misses her nap while crying which means that she will be more cranky the rest of the day, she is cranky so she has trouble falling asleep...
You will notice among the photos her Two Month Photos With the Ugly Dolls. Maybe it's the contrast, but it does make her look cute.
